Saying goodbye your way
Committed to helping you and your family to create a ceremony which is right for you and the person you have lost.
A funeral marks a significant event, the end of a unique life and the loss of a family member or friend.
A funeral or memorial ceremony should be as unique as the person it celebrates and is an early part of the grieving process. It is an important moment for those who are left to be able to celebrate and remember. Ceremonies crafted with care will tell their rich life story in a way which reflects their beliefs and values and allows you to honour and remember them.
I will work closely with you to compose and conduct an appropriate and imaginative ceremony, whether a for funeral, memorial ceremony or scattering ashes. I will meet you at your home, or at another venue if you prefer. I will take the time to listen to you in order to get a true sense of the person you have lost and make sure that he or she takes centre stage for the last time.
While it is always helpful to know what the person would have wished for their funeral, the entire ceremony doesn’t need to be organised a long way ahead. Its always good to leave some space for family and friends to include words and music which help to remember and honour them. After all funerals are for the living too!
Most funeral ceremonies are held in places of worship or in crematoria but they don’t have to be. There are no legal restrictions on where a funeral ceremony can be held. You could have the ceremony in a pub, village hall or hotel, at home, in a yurt or in your garden. If you don’t have the ceremony in a place of worship you can still have hymns, prayers or bible readings if you wish.
I am an independent professional celebrant based in Caversham and covering Berkshire, South Oxfordshire and further afield when required.
